MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A big sixth inning helped the current Morgantown Post 2 baseball team take down former players in a friendly alumni game Sunday, by a score of 4-2.
The current team fell behind the alumni team in the second inning after Greg Hawkins hit a home run.
Three of the current team’s runs came in the sixth inning, while it held on to defeat the alumni. Clay Maholic hit a home run in the fourth inning for the current team.
Andy Altemus pitched a nice game for the alumni, giving up one hit on just three innings pitched.
“It was about getting guys out there to relive their glory days. We hope to grow it from here on,” Morgantown Post 2 manager Tyler Barnette said after the game.
In all, Barnette said about 25-30 former players showed up to play for the alumni team.
