Harrop not qualified to
say who speaks for who
Since when does Froma Harrop get to decide who is black enough to speak for black people? “She is black but also the daughter of affluent immigrants,” Harrop says about Kamala Harris (DP-Wednesday), and continues “Thus her forbears were never subjected to the traumas of slavery and Jim Crow.” What?

Former President Barack Obama’s father was an immigrant and his mother was American-born and Caucasian. Is Harrop saying that Obama couldn’t speak for black people? Harris talked about being bussed to integrate schools in Berkeley, Calif. Was she white and bussed to a black school?

This isn’t about whether one likes Joe Biden or Harris for the Democratic nominee, or whether bussing for racial integration was good or bad.

It’s about the inherent racism of someone outside a racial group trying to define who fits in and can speak for the group. Froma Harrop absolutely does not have that right.

Salute to America was
a wonderful occasion
It was a wonderful military Salute to America (in Washington, D.C.).

Where else can one protest and survive their actions.

Anyone not thankful to be an American is free to leave the United States.

As a result of serving in the military I lost three family members and I’m proud of their service. God bless America.
