Four West Virginia football players have been selected to accompany coach Neal Brown to Big 12 media days in Arlington, Texas.
Senior offensive tackle Colton McKivitz, senior defensive end Reese Donahue, senior cornerback Keith Washington and junior wide receiver T.J. Simmons will represent the Mountaineers at AT&T Stadium on July 16. This is the first time media days will be held at the site of the Big 12 championship game, which is also the home of the Dallas Cowboys.
McKivitz is expected to be one of the top offensive linemen in the league this season. The three-year starter has twice been an honorable mention for the all-Big 12 team. He is moving from right tackle to left tackle this season to replace Yodny Cajuste, who was a third-round pick of the New England Patriots.
Donahue, a Cabell Midland High graduate, has started the last two seasons and will be looked to as one of the team’s top leaders this season.
Washington was an all-Big 12 honorable mention last season at cornerback. He had 40 tackles, nine pass breakups and two interceptions in his first year at West Virginia. He transferred from the junior college ranks after starting his career at Michigan.
Simmons is expected to be the Mountaineers’ top receiving target in the wake of the team losing its top three receivers from last season. Simmons caught 28 passes for 341 yards in his first year as a Mountaineer after transferring from Alabama.
Big 12 media days open on July 15 with coaches and players from Kansas, TCU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech. West Virginia will be joined the following day by Baylor, Iowa State, Texas and Kansas State.
