The Goodwill City Ambassadors are looking for volunteers for the upcoming football season.
There will be informational meetings at 6 p.m. today and July 17 at the Greater Morgantown Convention & Visitors Bureau, at 341 Chaplain Road.
If you enjoy welcoming visitors to Morgantown and sharing your enthusiasm for the city and for the WVU Mountaineers, Goodwill City Ambassadors may be a good fit.
The organization debuted in 2012 as way to promote a sense of goodwill between Mountaineers fans and fans visiting from out of town.
Ambassadors meet and greet with out-of-towners and provide information about the area.
The program works with WVU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, WVU Alumni Association, WVU Police Department, Greater Morgantown Convention and Visitors Bureau and other organizations.
Members not only socialize with visitors outside the stadium and at tailgates, they also offer a golf cart shuttle service, giving rides to and from the stadium from a number of designated locations.
This allows fans with disabilities, as well as older visitors or visitors with injuries that make walking difficult, to make it to and from the game more comfortably and easily. Anyone interested in driving the carts will receive safety and ADA training from the WVU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
