MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Junior college offensive tackle Jacob Gamble is betting on West Virginia.
Gamble verbally committed to the Mountaineers on Monday night. The 6-foot-7, 325-pound behemoth is currently enrolled at Iowa Western Community College.
Gamble chose West Virginia over Big 12 rivals Kansas State and Iowa State and was also being recruited by Florida State, Nebraska, Houston, Akron, Arkansas State and Florida Atlantic.
Gamble is from Doylestown, Ohio, which is just outside of Akron. He is not yet rated by Rivals, but carries a three-star rating from 247Sports.
The Mountaineers have had a spate of offensive linemen commit within the past week. Four-star tackle Chris Mayo committed to the program on Saturday, and Fairmont Senior lineman Zach Frazier announced his commitment earlier in the week. Frazier was initially recruited as a defensive tackle, but will play the interior offensive line at WVU.
Gamble is already teammates with another WVU commit. Outside linebacker S.L. McCall also attends Iowa Western.
With Gamble’s commitment, the Mountaineers are back up to 10 players in the Class of 2020. Defensive end Aaron Lewis flipped from West Virginia to Michigan on Sunday, temporarily taking the class down to nine commits.
