Vote out administration congressional enablers
Why are so many Trump supporters so easily fooled? To clarify: I don’t refer to supporters among the top 1% of Americans. Those supporters have paid their way to getting what they want. Rather, consider among the 99% the supporters who still believe the empty threats and vague promises.

In tax code and immigration changes, individual appointments, tariff threats and supporting mine owners, not workers, this administration has consistently benefited the top 1% to the detriment of the rest of us.

Consider the tax code changes. The reduction for individuals ends soon, while that for corporations is permanent. The mounting deficit is planned to be balanced by cuts in social spending.

The nonpartisan Congressional Research Service reports that tax cuts have not changed wages, not increased investments by corporations and not “paid for themselves” through growth. Cuts have succeeded in boosting the “market,” benefiting only those whose income derives from shares.

The revised immigration policy is based on those of Australia and Canada. What do those countries have in common with each other, and not with the U.S.? Both are under-populated and need specialized skills to fill out their vast spaces. Both pay living wages at the entry level. Copy their universal health-insurance systems instead.

Finally, most of the “best people” appointed to fill senior positions (and confirmed by a complicit Senate) have had to resign in disgrace for enriching themselves rather than improving America.

So, why is the president’s approval rating 35%, instead of 1%, the beneficiaries? Some supporters are happily ignorant, like the person at a town hall meeting, unaware that (special counsel Robert) Mueller mentioned negatives about the president. Perhaps others secretly enjoy, vicariously, un-American acts such as lawlessness, cruelty and bullying exhibited by this administration.

The solution: Non-35-percenters from the 99% need to show up, to vote out the administration and its congressional enablers.
