Stella Marie Slovak

Stella Marie Slovak, 87, a lifelong resident of Shoaf (Uniontown, Pa.), died peacefully on June 17, 2019, at Evergreen Assisted Living, Morgantown.

She was born in Mt. Sterling, Pa., on Aug. 23, 1931, the daughter of the late James and Agnes (Cole) Renox.

Stella was the owner/operator of the Flowerland in Masontown, Pa., for over 30 years. She used her magic touch with flowers to add beauty to special occasions across the lifespan. She was passionate about her work and loved to make people smile. Retirement was never on her bucket list.

She was a member of Saint Helen R.C Church, in Shoaf, Pal’s Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and served as a Judge of Elections and Central Committee Woman for Fayette County, Pa. As well as being the “Flower Lady,” she was best known as “Grammy” who loved to spoil her grandsons, Jordan, Levi and Max.
In addition to her parents, Stella was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Joseph A. Slovak; beloved grandson, Levi Anthony Slovak; brothers, Raymond “Sonny” Renox and James Renox; brother-in-law, Thomas Blasinsky; and a special niece, Janice Elliott.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Susan Pinto and husband, Tom, of Morgantown, and her son, Tony Slovak and wife, Sharon, of Accident, Md.: grandson, Jordan Pinto (wife, Kathryn), of Charlotte, N.C.; grandson, Max Pinto, of Morgantown; sister, Helen (Babe) Blasinsky, of Masontown, Pa.; and nieces, Tammy Samples (husband, Calvin), Lori Blasinsky (husband, Jeff), Jamie Snider, (husband, James), Robin Renox; and nephew, Tommy Blasinsky (wife, Stephanie).

Family and friends will be received at John S. Mayjuth Jr. Funeral Home, 7 River Avenue., Masontown, Pa., from 10 a.m. Saturday, June 22, until the 2 p.m. service.
The family wishes to thank the loving staff at Evergreen Assisted Living and her special friend and roommate, Virginia Ammons.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to “Levi’s Pennies from Heaven,” a non-profit in memory of Stella’s grandson, Levi.
