Call it head-hunting with a twist.
Rather than use a traditional employment firm to help it fill job openings, TMC Technologies of West Virginia, a Fairmont area technology firm that does work for various federal agencies, is asking the public for help.
TMC is offering a $2,000 bonus to people who refer a successful job candidate through its “Help Us Grow” program as a way to ensure top talent is recruited and hired. This practice also gives companies, such as TMC, access to a larger talent pool.
“Our corporate culture is to provide the very best technical talent available in support of our customer’s missions,” said Wade Linger, president and CEO of TMC Technologies. “To expand our ability to find and acquire this top tier pool of talent within the United States, we are incentivizing those who know that “technical guru” to refer them to us.”
There is a catch, however. The positions are in Clarksburg and require an active top secret security clearance to work in a secure location with highly sensitive and classified data. TMC clients include NASA, the Department of Defense and the Department of Justice.
Positions available for a $2,000 referral in Clarksburg include senior database systems administrator, senior Microsoft azure developer, senior Oracle database administrator, Microsoft SQL server DBA, applications developer, software developer, and enterprise web services administrator. Eight of the 12 available jobs locally are at the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services Center in Clarksburg.
“This changes daily as our requirements for various projects dictate the needs of our government clients,” Linger said.
TMC also has three positions open in Crane, Ind., and one in Pocatello, Idaho, that are eligible for the referral program. The TMC positions pay anywhere from $75,000 to $125,000.
“TMC is seeing strong demand for highly qualified technical experts in support of the leading edge technology missions of our customers,” said Jeff Edgell, TMC vice president and chief technical strategist.
“To continue to best serve our customers, we are expanding our ability to find the best technical talent in the United States by implementing this new referral program,” he said.
The $2,000 payment will be made in installments, on the employee’s first day and then again after 90 days of full-time employment. Referrals are valid for six months.
Privately held, TMC employs 90 in the Fairmont area. It specializes in software development, cybersecurity services, spaceflight modeling and simulation, program management and system deployment.
