Preston Sheriff’s Dept. IDs body as missing man; seeks security footage of roadways

KINGWOOD, W.Va. — Seeking details in the death of Philip “Buckie” Barlow, the Preston County Sheriff’s Department hopes security footage along a state highway will yield clues.

Barlow’s body was found Saturday in Fortney’s Mill by men who were training their hunting dogs in the rural area.

Barlow had been missing since May 29, according to people involved in his search. They report he was last heard from around 11:30 p.m., before heading to work at a trucking company for his 1 a.m. shift.

Barlow’s burned truck was found on Showerbath Road, hours after he failed to show up for work.

The sheriff’s department is asking anyone with security camera footage of a roadway south of Veterans Memorial Highway (W.Va. 7) and west of River Road (W.Va. 72), between May 28-29, to save and share that footage with law enforcement.

“Even if you don’t believe the video system captured anything,” states a release from the department.

To share information, call 304-329-1611 and ask for Capt. Travis N. Tichnell or DFC Ryan L. Powley.

No further details have been released regarding Barlow’s death.

His autopsy will be conduced by the state medical examiner.
