Katherine Jean Neel Casteel conquered cancer and went to live eternally with her Lord and Savior Jesus on June 4, 2019. Known to her family and friends as Kitty or Kathy. She was born September 15, 1943, in Fairmont, the daughter of the late Grace Ester West Neel and Robert Howard Neel. Kitty graduated from Morgantown High School in 1961, married Gary Casteel and they were blessed with 57 years of marriage. Kathy is survived by her husband, Gary; daughter, Pamela Lynn Casteel, of Morgantown; a son, Gary, Jr., “Casey”; and daughter-in-law Rebecca “Becky” Casteel, of Ormond Beach, Fla.; her sister, Carol Sue Snyder and husband, John Snyder, of Apollo, Pa.; sister-in-law, Kathleen “Kathy” Casteel, of Melbourne, Fla.; along with several cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Kitty was preceded in death by favorite aunts, Jo Ann West, Phyllis Stewart, Evelyn Neel; and favorite uncle, Robert West; brothers-in-law, David D. Casteel and Philip C. Casteel; along with several aunts and uncles. Kitty was a self taught transcriptionist. Being exceptional at typing and spelling, she easily adapted to the legal and medical transcription fields. She was employed by the Boone County Courthouse in Boone, Iowa, WVU Hospital, Mon Health Medical Center, Morgantown Surgical Associates, and finished her career with Heiskell, King, Burns and Tolman. Kathy will be remembered as a kind, devoted, caring, and loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. She loved her God, being with family, friends and attending Goshen Baptist Church. She served her community by following her grandfather and mother as treasurer with her husband at Goshen Baptist Church for over 20 years. She worked silently behind the scene helping with administration of the Mount Calvary Cemetery. At Katherine’s request, there will be no viewing or memorial service.
