John William “Bill” Hlatky, 44, of Bruceton Mills (Cuzzart community), passed away Monday, June 3, 2019, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, in Morgantown, with his family by his side. The son of John A. Hlatky and his stepmother, Gladys of Smithfield, Pa., and his mother, Catherine Core Boyer and his stepfather, Gary, of Greensboro, Pa., he was born June 17, 1974, in Connellsville, Pa. John was a loving husband, father, son and grandfather. He had been employed as a welder with a coal company. John “Bill” is survived by his wife, Tanya Sue Metz Hlatky; two daughters, Devon Smitley and her companion, Jay Lewis, of Smithfield and Adria Hlatky and her companion, Codie Foster, of Fairchance, Pa.; two granddaughters, Aubrielle and Jaelynn Lewis; two sisters, Stacie Guthrie and her husband, Jody, of Uniontown, Pa., and Alicia Ashton, of Greensboro; two stepbrothers, John Harden, of Smithfield and Elmer Harden and his wife, Jess, of Smithfield; a stepsister, Felicia Wilson and her husband, Tony, of Grindstone, Pa; a stepson, P.J. Guthrie and a stepdaughter, Shana Hilling and her husband, Kyle, of Berkeley Springs; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends will be received in the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home, in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, from 11 a.m. Thursday, June 6, until the 2 p.m. service with Pastor Barry Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Parnell Cemetery, Bruceton Mills (Cuzzart). The family request memorial contribution be made to the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home, 12 E. Main St., Bruceton Mills, WV 26525.
