Irene Virginia Corley Nash

Mrs. Irene Virginia Corley Nash, 92, a former resident of Belington, and more recently of The Home Away from Home Living Assistant facility in Grafton, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning June 2, 2019, in the care facility. Death was following a period of declining health.

She was born March 11, 1927, in Elkins, a daughter of the late Boyd C. and Nettie Hillyard Corley.
On June 7, 1947, she was united in marriage to James Nash, who preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 2008.

She is survived by her children, James Nash Jr. and wife, Ruth, of Ravenswood, Carolyn Marie Harris and husband, “Bubby,” Diane Nash, all of Belington, Jerry Nash and wife, Darlene, and Nancy Campbell and husband, Richard, all of Morgantown, Tina Robinson, of Uniontown, Pa., and Ladonna Nash, of Beech City, Ohio; and one brother, Ronald Corley, of Weaver. Additional survivors include many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Dorsey Corley.

Irene attended the schools of Barbour County and was Protestant by faith. She was formerly employed by Riedboard Brothers. In her younger years, Irene was very active and enjoyed bowling and golfing. She also loved playing Yatzee and going to bingo. Irene surrounded herself by family and friends. She enjoyed preparing large meals for the holidays and family gatherings. She brought lots of laughs and joy too many, especially with the stories she enjoyed sharing. Irene was a loving mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg St., in Belington, from 6-9 p.m. Friday, and at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, when final rites will be conducted from the Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Downing Gregory officiating. Interment will follow at Hillyard Cemetery near Weaver.
