Rosalind “Rosie” Mayle, 67, of Fairmont, formerly of Morgantown, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, May 21, 2019.
She was born in Morgantown on July 5, 1951, a daughter of the late George Thomas and Violet Mae (Piper) Mayle.
Rosie proudly raised her son on her own working hard throughout her life in a glass factory and in the coal mines. She was also a very loving grandmother who took care of her grandchildren. She especially loved fishing with her grandkids. Rosie was a nurturing woman, but also very tough. She was certainly set in her ways and was known to those who knew her best as pretty stubborn.
She spent her spare time throughout her life as an avid watcher of wrestling, reading books, and visiting family in Florida. On these trips, she particularly liked riding airboats. She loved the ocean and animals. Rosie spent her last days on her porch feeding squirrels, birds, and whatever critters came to visit her.
Rosie is survived by her son, Larry Mayle and wife Marsha; grandchildren, Zack, Alex, and Kaitlyn Mayle; one great-grandchild, Benjamin Paul Mayle; siblings, Sue Nuce, Peggy Kisner, Linda Parrotta, Belinda Brown, Deb Brown, and Aaron Murphy; and her faithful dog, Buddy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Merle Murphy.
In accordance with her wishes, Hastings Funeral Home/Omega Crematory will be providing cremation services.
Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, from 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, until the time of memorial service at 5 p.m. with Chaplin Rick McCauley officiating.
A special thanks to Amedysis Hospice Care.
