MORGANTOWN — A two-vehicle accident on Thursday sent a family of four to the hospital and slowed traffic on Interstate 79 for about an hour.
A silver Ford Fusion traveling southbound in the fast lane when it rear ended a black Acura RDX, sending it over the median and across the northbound lane before it stopped near the bottom of an entry ramp to the interstate, according to Lt. S. Hilling, of the Westover Police Department.
Two adults and two kids from the Acura were taken to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. Hilling said the injuries did not appear serious but the parents were worried for their kids.
Hilling said the driver of the Ford told police he was swiping at a bee at the time of the collision. The Ford went off the freeway on the southbound lane. Its driver was not taken to the hospital.
The accident was reported to MECCA 911 at 2:05 pm. and the scene was cleared at 3:11 p.m. The northbound lane near mile marker 154 was reduced to one lane while the accident was investigated and cleaned up.
