KINGWOOD — Two Preston County women are charged with child neglect creating risk of injury after police say they left an infant alone in a running car with weapons.
Ashley Dawn Masters, 23, of Masontown, and Rhonda Lynne Bucklew, 42, of Rowlesburg, were charged Wednesday by State Police. According to the criminal complaint by Senior Trooper L.S. Hall:
On Tuesday police went to the parking lot of the Kingwood Walmart after receiving a 911 call about an unattended baby. They found an “infant female” in a car seat in the back of a vehicle.
The engine was running, the heat was turned on and the driver’s door was unlocked. Officers saw a loaded pistol and a baseball bat in the driver’s area and a baton stun weapon in the front passenger seat.
Officers reviewed video surveillance and said the child had been alone about 20 minutes. They identified Master and Bucklew as the occupants.
Bond was set at $3,000 each. Masters remained in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail Wednesday.
