MORGANTOWN — The May 2019 Monongalia County grand jury returned 112 indictments, 20 less than the previous term in January.
Among those indicted are a former WVU student accused of threatening a school shooting, a man suspected of two Mon County shootings — including one that led to a first-degree murder charge — and a man accused of shooting someone outside of a former strip club in Richard.
An indictment is a formal accusation and not proof of guilt. The Dominion Post could not obtain copies of the signed indictments in time for this report.
Zachary Ryan Johnson was indicted on threats of terrorist act.
He allegedly said, “I honestly feel like going home and getting my gun and killing everybody” and “I seriously just feel like doing a mass shooting,” during a class at the Health Sciences Center Aug. 23, 2018, according to a criminal complaint.
Imani Cody was indicted for robbery, assault during the commission of a felony, malicious assault, attempted first-degree murder and wanton endangerment.
Cody was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service in Detroit on Jan. 16. He was accused of shooting a man at a Brockway Avenue apartment on Dec. 12, 2018, after trying to rob him. A criminal complaint said Cody shot the victim in the chest, arm and leg. He’s also suspected of a shooting on Dec. 9 at Marjorie Gardens that resulted in no injuries.
Fred Hudson was indicted for wanton endangerment and malicious assault.
Hudson admitted to being the shooter at Exotic Life Club in an interview with detectives, Monongalia County Sheriff Perry Palmer previously said. Hudson was identified through witnesses and video footage, according to court documents.
The April 20 shooting injured Angela Wolfe, according to a GoFundMe page. The sheriff’s department has not identified Wolfe as the victim or released details of the shooting.
