Edith Regina Spring, 79, of Thornton, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, May 2, 2019, at her residence.
She was born April 9, 1940, in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Shirley and Idella Radabaugh Richards.
Survivors include three children, Arthur Spring, of Ohio, Reva Roberts and her husband, Gordie of Williamstown, and Richard Spring and his wife, Tammy, of Thornton; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Mac Richards and his wife, Jeanette, and Milford Richards and his wife, Jean, all of Parkersburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Arthur Joseph Spring; brothers, Charlie and Jim Richards; and a sister, Greeta Ball.
In 2001, she became a United Methodist minister in McDowell County, as well as having two charges in Preston County. She preached at Bethlehem UMC, Otterbein UMC, Love Chapel UMC, Mt. Zion UMC, Mt. Israel UMC, Sinclair UMC and Evansville UMC. She retired in 2004.
Friends may join Mrs. Spring’s family to honor her life and legacy at Bethel Church, Bethel Road, Thornton, from 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. offiiciated by Pastor Kevin Leadbetter. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at the Bethel Cemetery.
At her request, and in lieu of flowers, Mrs. Spring was adamant in the last couple of years of her life that if you wanted to remember her with a kind gesture, do so by planting a tree or flower in her memory.
