Charles Lee “Chuck” Yeager, age 78, of Petersburg, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2019, at WVU Medicine, with his family by his side. Chuck was born in Morgantown, on January 16, 1941, a son of the late Marshall and Thelma Yeager.
While living in Morgantown, Chuck was a school teacher for 10 years at Morgantown Junior High and Clay-Battelle High School. After moving to Petersburg, Chuck was a health teacher at Petersburg High School. While working, he was the Athletic trainer for the football team and the girls’ basketball coach. In his free time, Chuck loved being outdoors, camping, fishing, and snow skiing. Chuck was also a member of the Duffey Memorial UMC.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Lynn Kay Lynch Yeager; son, Kristian Lee Yeager and wife Sara Treat, of Petersburg; brother, John David “Pete” Yeager and wife Jane Pell Yeager, of Floridia; and grandchildren, Jackson Levi Yeager and Samuel David Yeager.
Friends may gather at Beverly Hills Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, for a graveside service with Pastor Ted Osgood officiating.
