WESTOVER — Tax rates in Westover will stay the same in fiscal year 2019-’20.
The city’s council – except Janet Goodwin – convened to approve the levy on Tuesday morning. The city expects to raise about $641,127 in property taxes this year, Mayor Dave Johnson said. Last year the city earned about $625,000.
Class II properties are taxed at 25 cents per $100 in value. Class IV properties are taxed at 50 cents per $100 in value.
Johnson said in the future he hopes to lower property taxes for residential areas once the property taxes from the Gateway and West Ridge developments start flowing in. That process can takes several years though.
“That was our aim all along,” Johnson said.
