MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Former West Virginia guard Beetle Bolden plans to spend his graduate transfer season at Alabama.
Bolden’s announcement Sunday on Twitter came 38 days after the guard’s late-season departure from the Mountaineers. He averaged 12.2 points across 18 games as a junior despite hand and ankle injuries.
Coincidentally, one of Bolden’s best performances this past season came against his new Crimson Tide coach. Nate Oats led Buffalo to a 99-94 win in Morgantown on Nov. 9 when Bolden scored 21 points on 6-of-9 shooting and added four assists and two steals.
A 40-percent career 3-point shooter, Bolden appeared in 82 games at West Virginia. His career assist-to-turnover ratio was problematic at only 92-84.
Alabama, which is seeking a backup point guard to five-star sophomore Kira Lewis, returns four starters from an 18-16 campaign that led to Avery Johnson’s dismissal. Bolden complements a 2019 recruiting class ranked 25th by Rivals.
As West Virginia reshapes its roster on the heels of a 15-21 season, forward Lamont West announced his transfer to Missouri State. Dismissed forward Wes Harris and reserve center Andrew Gordon have yet to reveal their transfer destinations.
