MORGANTOWN — West Virginia punter Billy Kinney was named to the Hampshire Honor Society by The National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame.
The Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers. Kinney, who maintained a 4.0 GPA at WVU, is currently pursuing his Masters.
Kinney is the 35th West Virginia player named to the honor society since its formation in 2007.
WVU is one of the 29 schools to have a Hampshire Honor Society member each year since the program’s inception. The society recognized athletes from all three NCAA divisions. Only seven FBS programs have had an athlete recognized every year.
Kinney, a University High graduate, averaged 41 yards per punt as a senior last season.
