Pikewood National taps Matt Tashenberg as new golf director

MORGANTOWN — Pikewood National Golf Club announced the hiring of Matt Tashenberg as director of golf.

The club’s new head golf professional, Tashenberg previously worked at Kinloch Golf Club near Richmond, Va., at Dallas Country Club, and the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club.

A native of Toledo, Ohio, Tashenberg graduated from Mississippi State University with degrees in business administration and marketing. He was a member of the PGA Jones Cup national championship team.

“Matt will bring a new level of expertise to the operations and management of one of the world’s most outstanding courses,” said Robert Gwynne, executive vice president of Pikewood.

A walking-only course offering majestic views, forest trails and dramatic limestone outcroppings, Pikewood Golf Club is ranked 40th in Golf Digest’s list of “America’s 100 Greatest Courses.”

“Pikewood is the perfect blend of beauty and design. I have played golf all over the world and have not played golf on any course as challenging and as beautiful as Pikewood,” Tashenberg said.
