MORGANTOWN — Former West Virginia forward Lamont West, who entered the NCAA transfer portal last Thursday, has landed at Missouri State.
West, who averaged 11.1 points and 4.1 rebounds this past season, is set to graduate in May and would be eligible immediately next season with the Bears, who compete in the Missouri Valley Conference.
On his Twitter account, West called it a “business move.”
Missouri State, under head coach Dana Ford, finished 16-16 this season, which was Ford’s first at the school.
The Bears, who have not been to the NCAA tournament since 1999, had three seniors in their starting lineup, but transfers Tyrik Dixon (Middle Tennessee) and Josh Hall (Nevada) will become eligible next season after sitting out due to NCAA rules.
West scored 945 career points in three seasons with the Mountaineers and connected on 154 3-pointers. He shot 39.5 percent over his career from the floor and 33.6 percent from three.
