MORGANTOWN — That sound you heard Sunday was March going out like a lion.
A 40-degree drop in temperature made the month’s leonine exit easy to ascertain also.
After Saturday’s high of 75, the mercury punched the express elevator to usher plummeting temperatures, (occasional) blustery winds and even some snowflakes for a final day of March madness.
Alex Sosnowski, an AccuWeather senior meteorologist, said the about-face was caused by a weather pattern originating in the Midwest which carried a cold front on its heels.
Said pattern made its presence known over the northeast and into Appalachia.
Heavy coats and at least hooded sweatshirts were all the fashion rage Sunday in Morgantown as people negotiated the lion’s den.
Sosnowski said to expect a seasonal ease-in to April.
Today calls for sunny skies (no foolin’) and a high of 46. Look for a brisk evening with lows around 30.
The mercury will rebound in the 50s and 60s for the rest of the workweek with a chance of showers on Friday.
Saturday welcomes the weekend with partly sunny skies and a high of 57.
