MORGANTOWN, W. Va. — Jacob Spearen drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 12th inning with a two-out single to right field Thursday that scored Evan Smith, as University High downed Hampshire, 7-6.
Spearen had two hits on the day and the Hawks added on 12 more.
Hunter Cottrell had three hits, including a triple and drove in a run. Smith had three hits and a double and teammate Casey Smith had two hits and two RBIs.
Jonathon Thompson pitched four innings of relief for the win. He gave up one hit and no earned runs.
The Hawks (3-3) will host Hedgesville at 5 p.m. Friday.
