COCOA BEACH, Fla. — Kathryn Lemley collected three RBIs and helped lead the Morgantown High softball team to a 7-0 win over Oak Harbor on Sunday.
The Mohigans got off to a strong start, scoring six runs in the first inning, and never looked back.
Lemley finished the game with two hits, including a double. Lillian Kooser finished the game 3-for-3. Grace Haines pitched 7 innings and got the win. She tallied nine strikeouts and allowing three runs on four hits.
Willoughby South (Ohio) 7, Morgantown 4
COCOA BEACH, Fla. — Morgantown’s pitching and defense struggled in the second game, which ultimately led to a 7-4 loss to Willoughby South (Ohio).
The Mohigans struck first, scoring one run in the first inning, but couldn’t muster anything offensively for the next five innings.
They did manage to bring home three runs in the top of the seventh inning, but the rally attempt was cut short.
Ava Anderson, Breonna Marietta and Brianna McKenzie each had two hits. Marietta brought home an RBI, too.
Kooser started the game for Morgantown and got the loss. She pitched four innings and allowed six runs on seven hits and two walks, and also notched four strikeouts.
