W. Constance Green, 97, died March 8, 2019, in O’Fallon, Mo. For 67 years, she was the beloved wife of Dr. George G. Green, a radiologist, who was on the WVU Medical School faculty, 1962-1969.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother and sister.
She will be remembered by her four children, Patty (Phil) Metzger, of Wentzville, Mo., Garry (Deb Smyth) Green, of Sugar Grove, Ill., Connie Green, of Tryon, N.C., Lyn Green, of Johnstown, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Connie grew up in Bellerose, N.Y., graduating from St. Lawrence University with a BS in Chemistry. She worked in radio in NYC before marrying and moving to Sea Girt, N.J. When the family moved to Morgantown, she became a lifelong advisor to her sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma, remaining active into her 90s. Ties to Morgantown remained lifelong, as three of her children graduated from MHS, and two also graduated from WVU. From 1970 to 1993, she and George lived in Rock Island, Ill., before retiring to Hot Springs Village, Ark., where he passed in 2011. In Arkansas, she was involved in grass-roots fundraising for a rare disorder, FOP, which afflicts a granddaughter. In 2016, Connie moved to Missouri to be closer to family.
Donations may be made to IFOPA (International Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva Assoc, www.ifopa.org), in honor of granddaughter, Sophia Forshtay.
