COCOA BEACH, Fla. — In the first game of Friday’s doubleheader, the Morgantown High softball team defeated Tenafly (N.J.), 6-5, after a run-run rally in the final inning.
The Mohigans trailed 5-4 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, then scored two runs and walked off with a win.
Ava Anderson led the offensive attack for Morgantown, finishing the game 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Brianna McKenzie finished the game 1-for-3 with a triple and brought home a run. Kathryn Lemley collected two hits, one being a double. Lillian Kooser got one hit and brought home one RBI.
Grace Haines pitched five innings, allowing five hits, three earned runs and tallying five strikeouts. Mikala Rogers came relived Haines in the sixth inning and finished the game. allowing just two hits and collecting four strikeouts.
Morgantown 15, Passaic (N.J.) 0
COCOA BEACH, Fla. — In the second game of Friday’s doubleheader, Morgantown dominated Passaic (N.J.), 15-0, while Lillian Kooser pitched a no-hitter.
Kooser only pitched four innings because Morgantown run-ruled Passaic, but didn’t allow any hits or walks and notched five strikeouts during that stretch. She also collected three hits and drove home a run offensively.
The Mohigans collected 15 total hits. Brianna McKenzie and Brooke Pyles led the way for MHS. McKenzie finished 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIS. Pyles finished the game 2-for-2 with two singles and four RBIs. Alexandria Watson finished the game with two singles and brought home an RBI. Emily Goldcamp collected two hits, including a double, and also notched an RBI.
