MORGANTOWN — Michael Mills believes in putting his money where his mouth is.
The founding principal of Mills Group, a local architecture firm, said he believes in the revitalization of downtown Morgantown, and will relocate the company’s headquarters to High Street this summer.
Mills is a member of the Main Street Morgantown board and said he feels a connection and commitment to downtown — the firm started at 206 High St.
Around mid-summer, the company will move to 88 High St., across from the Monongalia County Justice Center. Construction has started and Mills said there’s a lot more activity to come.
This week, workers poured a portion of extended sidewalk at the building, Vince Putowski, project manager for Maverick Contracting, said. He said they were also going to extend the face of the building.
Putowski said Maverick is a local contracting company and the move will be great for High Street.
“The story to me is Mills is willing to bring its business to High Street,” he said.
Currently, the Mills Group does business in the Wharf District and has 10 employees in Morgantown. Mills said the new headquarters will have room for eight more people. The firm also has eight employees in a Wheeling office.
