MORGANTOWN — The Morgantown High softball team scored four runs in the sixth inning to rally and defeat Brooke, 5-3, on Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore Breanna Rice led the Mohigans offensively, going 3-for-4 with a triple and one RBI. Alexandria Watson contributed two RBIs while recording one hit in four at-bats. Brianna McKenzie brought home one RBI and finished the game with one hit.
Brooke Pyles pitched 5.2 innings for Morgantown — recording seven strikeouts and allowing just one earned run on five hits. The other two runs that Brooke scored were unearned. Grace Haines came in for relief of Pyles in the sixth inning and allowed just one hit in 1.1 innings pitched.
Rachel Kazmirski was pitching well for Brooke for the majority of the game before allowing the Mohigans to rally in the sixth inning. She finished the game with 4.2 innings pitched, four strikeouts and allowed three earned runs on seven hits. She also led Brooke offensively — finishing the game with one hits and two RBIs. Megan Cross had two hits in the contest and Kalliopi Makricostas recorded one RBI.
