Freda Sims

Freda Loretta Sims, 81, of Maidsville, better known as ‘Nanny’ to her family, entered eternal life on Friday, March 15, 2019, at the J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital.  She was born February 16, 1938, in Morgantown, daughter to Eugene and Amy Price Sims.
Nanny worked for more than 33 years as a cook at various dormitories for WVU.  She also enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.  Other hobbies included crafting, embroidery, reading and watching crime dramas.
She faithfully attended the Mt. Calvary Assembly of God, in Westover.
Nanny is survived by her daughter, Darcus Crawford, of Maidsville; three grandsons, Jeremy Crawford and wife Cindy, Adam Crawford and wife Kayla, all of Westover and Robert Crawford and wife Julie, of Youngsville, N.C.;  two great-grandchildren, which brought her so much joy, Jacob Crawford and Brynlee Mae Crawford, both of home; two brothers, Robert Sims and wife Patricia, of Columbus, Ohio, Larry Sims and wife Roseanne, of Ft. Ashby; and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends  at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 2-  6 p.m. on Sunday, March 17,  andfrom 10 a.m.  on Monday,  until the time of services at 11 a.m. with Pastor Johnny Whitehair officiating. She will be laid to rest at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
