Fundraiser is March 16 for the Boys of Bruceton

BRUCETON MILLS — People and businesses from three states have donated to  Saturday’s fundraiser for the families of four Bruceton boys involved in a Feb. 6 accident.
The Boys  of Bruceton fundraiser will be 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday at the Bruceton Fire Hall. Dinner will be $10 for adults, $7 for children 8 and under. Tickets on smaller raffle items will be 10 for $5; tickets on items valued at more than $300 will be $5 each or 5 for $20.

Mandi Hall and other volunteers have organized the event, and she said they have been overwhelmed by the level of support. Donations have come in from West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. Instate, donations have been from as far south as Huntington.
In addition to the dinners, for which all the food was donated, there will be 200-250 baskets raffled off that are valued up to $300.
Another more than 20 items valued at $300 to $800 will also be raffled, with those tickets selling for a higher price.
“We truly have something for everyone,” Hall said.
Their goal is to raise $70,000. All the money will be placed into a bank account, and the families of the four boys can present medical bills to the group. The bills will be paid directly.
Four Preston High students , all from the Bruceton area, were in the car that hit a tree after hydroplaning on W.Va. 26 at the intersection with Furfin Road. Fifteen-year-old Brayden Bishoff died of his injuries. Another boy is undergoing rehab, and two have been released from the hospital.
WVU has been very generous with its donations, Hall said, providing clothing and an autographed baseball, basketball and football. The smaller items will also include Easter and children’s items, hunting and fishing items, homemade quilts and countless other things.
The larger items include a two-night stay with all amenities at Dream Mountain Ranch, an $800 saddle, a white water rafting trip, guitar, golf package that includes an overnight stay at Lakeview, Garth Brooks concert tickets and more.
There will also be a bake sale, and T-shirts, bracelets and tumblers will be sold.
A Terra Alta caterer donated 300 pulled pork dinners. As long as those last, diners can choose between the pork and a meal of rigatoni, roll and salad. Desserts and drinks are included in all meals.
