A car, a trip for four to Disney World and jewelry are among the prizes to be won at the Fifth Annual West Virginia Grand Bash planned for 1-7 p.m March 30 at Mylan Park. The event will include $650,000 in prizes.
The Grand Bash benefits WVU Medicine Children’s as well as Operation Welcome Home, a nonprofit organization that helps veterans find full time employment.
“This year, Operation Welcome Home is proud to support the Grand Bash and the wonderful causes it supports: Mission for Miracles, The Hoss Foundation and of course Operation Welcome Home,” said Brett Simpson, CEO of Operation Welcome Home.
The Hoss Foundation is a nonprofit organization supporting the Hostetler Family Resource Center at WVU Medicine Children’s, and Mission for Miracles is a nonprofit supporting people with neurological conditions.
“Proceeds from the West Virginia Grand Bash have benefited WVU Medicine Children’s since the event started five years ago. We provide care to every child and family that comes through our doors, and every dollar donated to us helps us ensure that our services are available to those families when they need us,” said Cheryl Jones, chief nursing officer of WVU Medicine Children’s.
Prizes range from big to small, including a Chevrolet Corvette, a Disney trip for four or Diamond earrings from Joyce’s Jewelry.
Defense in Depth will also sponsor a Rapid Fire Raffle with firearms available to ticketholders. Thirty guns in 30 minutes will be raffled. One grand prize winner will walk away with $100,000
In a press release, Grand Bash Event Director John Throckmorton said the Grand Bash has something for everyone — raffles throughout the day, music, and great food.
“A family should never have to travel outside the state or region to find care for their children. We thank the organizers and attendees of the Grand Bash for their support. Our patients and staff appreciate it,” Jones said.
Simpson said with this support from the community, Operation Welcome Home is able to provide services to veterans to the greatest extent.
Tickets for The Grand Bash are $100 and can be purchased at wvgrandbash.com. Ticketholders need not be present to win prizes.
The price of the ticket includes access to the buffet and endless soft drinks. Beer will be available for purchase. The first ever Grand Bash afterparty will also be from 7-9 p.m. This will include a live performance from The Davidson Brother’s Band.
