Joseph Looman

Joseph Carson Looman, age 92, of Fairmont,  passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019, at United Hospital Center, in Clarksburg.  He was born March 15, 1926, at Mannington, son of the late AD “Dutch” Looman and Edith E. Ford Looman.
He is survived by two daughters, Lois and Thomas Howard, of Hedgesville] and Margie D. Barker, of Elyria, Ohio; three grandsons, William J. and Beth Barker, of Illinois, Richard and Traci Barker, of Port Washington, Ohio, and Daniel A. Howard, of Jacksonville, Fla.; two granddaughters, Catherine and Konstantina Yemelyanov, of Alexandria, Va. and Kelly and William Parks Kesler, of Columbia, Md.; eight great-grandchildren, Nicole Deidrick, Terah Barker, Timothy, Joseph and Mary Yemelyanov, Peter J. Dolan, Thomas and Madelynn Kesler; and three great-great-grandchildren, Caden J. Barker, Graeme and Lincoln Deidrick.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline Goff Looman; a sister, Patty L.R. Looman; a brother, Jack Ford Looman; grandparents, Carson and Lavina Ford; grandparents, Joseph and Laura Looman; and a great-great-granddaughter, Kaydence Barker.
Joe owned and operated Looman’s Feed and Farm Supply for over 50 years, in Mannington.  He was a Justice of the Peace in Mannington for six years.  He was active in 4-H groups, supported “PattyFest” (his sister’s Dulcimer activities) and many community projects.  He was an Auctioneer at many functions after graduating from Iowa Auctioneer School and was involved in the Mannington District Fair.
Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, in Mannington, from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m.  on Thursday, March 7.  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 8, and    burial will follow at Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery.
