MORGANTOWN, W. Va. — Following West Virginia’s 90-75 victory against Iowa State on Wednesday, a team source said that junior guard Beetle Bolden is no longer with the team.
The source said Bolden, who has been out with a high ankle sprain since Jan. 26, wasn’t dismissed, but it was the guard’s decision to step away.
Bolden, who averaged 12.2 points and connected on 30 3-pointers this season, was not present on the Mountaineers’ bench against the Cyclones.
Huggins said Tuesday that Bolden was set to graduate in May. He could transfer to another team and be eligible immediately under the NCAA’s grad-transfer rule next season. Bolden has dealt with numerous injuries this season other than the high ankle sprain, including beginning the season with torn ligaments in his shooting hand. He also hurt his elbow and left arm during the Myrtle Beach Invitational.
