Aimee Beth Guthrie, 45, of Bruceton Mills, won her battle against cancer by being rewarded with eternal life with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 28, 2019.
Aimee was born in Uniontown, Pa., on August 30, 1973. She was the daughter of James Howard and Marcia Sue Dillow.
Aimee graduated from Tri-Valley Senior High School in 1991, and then attended Pennsylvania State University where she earned her degree in Industrial Engineering in 1996. Aimee was employed with IBM as a Business/System Analyst and HR Manager for over 12 years.
On June 5, 2010, she married the love of her life, Alvin Loyd Guthrie, from Bruceton Mills. Aimee was blessed with two precious boys, Colton, age 14, and Aidan, age 7, whom she loved deeply and endured many surgeries and treatments to cure her cancer so she could continue to be an amazing mother to both of them. Aimee had tremendous faith in the Lord that was evident by her love and constant support of her family and friends regardless of her own trials and tribulations. Aimee was a very talented and creative woman who loved to organize calendar parties, plan vacations, and host events for her family and friends.
During Aimee’s battle against cancer, she continued to be the selfless and faithful, mother, wife, daughter, sister, cousin, niece and friend, as she had been her whole life. Aimee lived for her precious boys and instilled the value of hard work, kindness, perseverance, truthfulness, forgiveness and compassion. Aimee attended the Whitehouse Free Methodist Church, in Whitehouse, Pa., much of her life, and then the Little Sandy Church of Nazarene, in Bruceton Mills. She loved both of her church families. Aimee was always eager to read the word of God and share it with others. Aimee’s faith, especially over the last two years, was unshakable and she trusted in the Lord with all of her heart. She was an amazing and wonderful woman who will be missed by everyone who knew her. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now cancer free and that they will all be reunited again in Heaven.
She was preceded in death by her father, James; her mother, Sue; her father-in-law, Clarence Guthrie; and a nephew, “CJ” Guthrie.
Aimee is survived by her loving husband, Alvin; her adoring children, Colton and Aidan, both of Bruceton Mills; her three brothers, who she loved dearly, Aaron Dillow and wife Amy, of Smithfield, Pa., Darrin Dillow and wife Tina, of California, Pa., and Zachary Dillow and wife Tiffany, of Point Marion, Pa.
