Onley David “Dave” May, 64 years old, born May 9, 1954, found comfort with the Lord on February 26, 2019, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, after suffering a stroke at home.
He was reunited with family and friends who previously departed; his parents, Onley and Edna May; his sister, Sharon Stoller; grandson, Jeffrey May; great-grandson, Ryker Richards; and his first wife and mother of his children, Bette Lee May.
Dave will be remembered as loving and strong. He knew how to love people and often taught others how to love people. His smile was contagious.
Dave will be lovingly missed by his childhood friend and loving wife, Martha May; his children and pride and joys, Skip May and wife, Peggy, Wesley May and wife, Karen, Scott May and wife, RoseMarie, Shawn May and wife, Beth, and Wendy Pittman and husband, Bill. He is also survived by his brother, Dayton May and spouse, Dottie. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews. He is leaving behind three stepdaughters, Jennifer and husband, Tim Hanlin, Julie Francis and fiancé, Chris Danser, and Shirlee and husband, Adam Bonnell; 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who will miss his loving hugs and support.
Dave was passionate about his family, friends and critters. His love for music was evident to anyone who knew him. He enjoyed listening to Old school rock and roll, especially Lynyrd Skynyrd. He was a musician as a young man and a member of the Illusion band. He was a retired self-employed painter. He used the patience he learned from painting in everyday life. He was a young soul with a heart of gold who would help anyone in need. He was an avid football fan and liked cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs. He enjoyed Friday night date nights with his wife. Dave’s love and friendship were never ending; he truly cared and cherished all those who loved him.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Dave touched are invited to gather at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, from 11 a.m. on Friday, March 1, until the time of funeral service at 1 p.m., with Pastor Donna Dalton officiating. Interment will follow at Pisgah Cemetery, Morgantown.
