INSTITUTE, — Former Morgantown High standout Rachel Laskody scored a career-high 33 points to lead the Fairmont State women’s basketball team to an 87-56 victory against West Virginia State on Sunday.
Laskody, a junior guard who averages 15.8 points per game, got the ball early and often during the victory, as she went 15-of-18 from the field and added 12 rebounds to go with her 33 points.
Laskody scored 13 points in the opening quarter, and had 17 at the half.
Fairmont State (11-15, 8-12 MEC) shot 50 percent from the field, including
73 percent in the first quarter and 61 percent in the first half of play. The Falcons also held a commanding 51-42 rebounding advantage and had 23 assists on
36 made baskets.
