MORGANTOWN — This isn’t Don Mack’s first rodeo — er, uh, reception.
The self-described “professional dad” from Uniontown, Pa., already walked one daughter down the aisle, and he’s getting ready to do the same for his other little girl come Sept. 7.
Which is why he happily said “yes” Sunday afternoon when he was asked to motor to Cheat Lake, and Lakeview Golf Resort and Spa.
The occasion was the conference center’s 2019 Spring Wedding Showcase.
Mack reflected good humor as his eyeglasses caught the glint from all those engagement rings, wielded by the Better Half of all those betrothed couples, now working on Part Two of the Proposal.
“I like that it’s all under one roof,” he said. “And I’m loving the food.”
Lakeview’s manager Chrissy Buchanan appreciated hearing that.
She said the idea of the showcase was so fathers of the bride, such as Mack, will have that same positive response. Moms, too.
“We want you to be able to plan your wedding in a day,” she said.
Couples on Sunday could sample every Lakeview menu offering for the reception.
If they preferred, they could also go ahead and book the event at the resort: Lakeview is already known nationally for its nuptials. Last year, it was recognized by The Knot “Best Of” Weddings and WeddingWire, two leading planners in the arena.
Vendors in the Lakeview Ballroom included photographers, disc jockeys and jewelry makers — but it was light on gowns and tuxedos, Buchanan said, since couples usually go to the shops and boutiques for those.
“Still working on the gown,” Lynnsie Parsons said, as she smiled over at her fiance, Reid Boden.
“We’ve got time,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mack and his daughter, Melissa, joked and laughed while making their way through the Ballroom.
“When we had our girls,” he said, “everything else took the backseat.”
Melissa hooked her dad’s arm as they walked — just like she will on her Wedding Day.
