Warmer weather headed this way after slushy storm

MORGANTOWN — Mild weather typical of this time of year is on the way after the recent cold spell, which ended with a storm of ice and snow Wednesday.
Alan Reppert, AccuWeather senior meteorologist, said a storm from the southwest with cold air in front was responsible for Wednesday’s ice and snow, which changed to mostly rain by the afternoon. Mountains to the east of Morgantown saw more snow then our area, Reppert said.
Jan. 21 should be dry with mostly cloudy skies and temperatures in the upper 40s, following a night of rain, Reppert said. Tonight could see the temp drop as low as 30.
Friday will bring a mix of clouds and sun with a high in the upper 40s and Friday night will see rain that is expected to last through the weekend, but it will remain above freezing, Reppert said.
“It’s just rain,” he said.
The rain is expected to last through Sunday, Reppert said.
He said the mid-40s is a typical temperature for this time of year and while there could still be shots of cold air down the road, for now, milder weather is coming.
