LUBBOCK, Texas — Naomi Davenport’s jumper with 11 seconds remaining handed West Virginia a 75-72 win Wednesday against Texas Tech, at the United Supermarkets Arena.
Davenport’s shot gave the Mountaineers (17-6, 8-4 Big 12) a 73-72 lead. After getting a stop on defense, WVU guard Tynice Martin was fouled and she sank two free throws for the final score.
Freshman guard Madisen Smith led the Mountaineers with 20 points.
Davenport nearly missed a double-double with 18 points and eight rebounds. Martin added 16, while Nia Staples added 11 points.
WVU, which hit eight 3-pointers in the game, returns home to face TCU at 2 p.m. Saturday.
