WHEELING — Wheeling Park snapped a 13-game losing streak to Morgantown and advanced to the OVAC title game to face University High with a 57-46 victory on Tuesday.
Alex Vargo led the Patriots with 19 points and Jack Stakem added 17.
Morgantown High was led by Cam Selders’ 11 points.
“We’re struggling offensively really badly right now,” Morgantown High coach Dave Tallman said. “Wheeling Park wanted that game way more than we did and there’s really no question about it. I give them a lot of credit. They’ve been in a lot of tough games like that where they haven’t won, and (this time) they did. I thought the (Jack) Stakem kid was the difference. We had him down for 17 (points) and nine (rebounds) and that’s just a kid wanting it more than the other guy.”
