ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio — The University High girls’ basketball team cruised to a 71-51 victory over John Marshall in the 5A OVAC championship on Saturday.
The game was tied after the first quarter, but the Hawks pulled away in the second and third quarters — outscoring John Marshall 45-20.
Ashten Boggs led University (15-5) in scoring in the game with 26 points, and was named MVP of the tournament. Zoe Murphy was the team’s second-leading scorer with 15 points (making four 3-pointers), Mallory Napolillo netted 12 and Abbie Coen scored 10.
University will play again at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday against Lewis County.
