CHARLESTON — Here is a sampling of bills introduced Feb. 6. Monongalia-Preston-Marion-area lead sponsors and co-sponsors, if any, are noted.

SB 538, to authorize the design-build program to be used for projects financed with bonds under authority of the Roads to Prosperity Amendment of 2017 with an obligation limitation of $350 million per project. Sen. Charles Clements, R-Wetzel, lead sponsor.

SB 541, to require money from the forfeiture of an oil and gas operator’s bond from the operator’s failure to plug a well or otherwise comply with state law to first be applied to correct or mitigate an immediate threat to the environment or hindrance or impediment to the development of mineral resources that caused the forfeiture of the bond. Sens. Clements, Bob Beach, D-Monongalia, Randy Smith, R-Tucker, Mike Maroney, R-Marshall, co-sponsors.

HB 2854, from the state Tax Department, to exempt nonprofit, volunteer school support groups from sales tax for items bought for fundraisers.

HB 2861, the Local Control and Accountability Act, to allow counties to impose a 1 percent county sales tax.

HB 2871, to gradually raise the state minimum wage, now $8.75 per hour, to $12 per hour by Jan. 1, 2023. Delegates Michael Angelucci and Mike Caputo, D-Marion, Barbara Evans Fleischauer, D-Monongalia, co-sponsors.

HB 2877, to prohibit any public entity from charging a fee for parking in a parking space bearing the symbol for accessibility.
