George Corder, 78, of Morgantown, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2019, at his home. He was born April 15, 1940, in Morgantown, a son of the late N.G. and Willa Corder.
George was employed at WVU Hospital, in the maintenance department for many years. He enjoyed diagnosing mechanical issues with cars and repairing them in his garage near Star City. When he wasn’t working on cars, George enjoyed talking about cars. With his knowledge of cars, he could spend hours talking about all of the mechanical aspects of automobiles. George was an animal lover, but was especially fond of cats.
He is survived by his sister, Jane Corder-Moore Snyder; and his nieces, Melissa Mercer and Jennifer Turner.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Catherine (Alekna) Corder.
Friends will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. with George’s nephew, Randy Turner, officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his wife at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
