Melcenia Rose ‘Sissy’ Brown Dalton, 66, of Morgantown, formerly Mt. Morris, Pa., entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at her home surrounded by family. She was born August 14, 1952, in Morgantown, daughter to Tiff and Annabelle Lewis Brown.
Faith, family, and friends would define Miss Rose to those who knew her best. She was a servant with a heart of gold. Your last name didn’t matter to her. If she knew you, she loved you as family.
Rose opened her own home as a personal care home for nearly 20 years. She also worked in hospitality at Shoney’s and various other businesses in the area until her accident and health would no longer allow.
Rose is survived by her husband of 39 years, Marvin ‘Buck’ Dalton; daughters, Janie Phillips and husband Mike, Sharon Phillips and Patty Renee Costello; former son-in-law, Eric Costello; step-children Belinda Jean, Jason Eldon and Angela Marie; grandchildren, Michael J. and wife Amanda, Shalyne Michele and husband Michael, Cody James and wife Keirsten, Ceara Leighann, Terie Eldon, Jayna Nichole, Ethan Patrick; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, James L. Brown, Hunton Tom Brown and wife Darlene, Virginia Ruth Rowan and husband Willard ‘Itsie’, William O. ‘Bill’ Brown and companion Cindy, Agnes ‘Gen’ Yatsko, M. ‘Joe’ Brown and wife Brenda, Mike Brown and wife B.J., Connie Chambers and husband Mark and David Brown and wife Edna, special sister, Patty Sue ‘Ham’; close friend, Dorothy, Edna’s mom, and special English friend, Marilyn Sisk; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Tiff and Annabelle; two brothers, Carry Lewis and Jonhl Brown and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 2 -6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27, and from 10 a.m. on Monday, until the time of services at 11 a.m. with Pastors Donna Dalton and Mike Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery.
