Virginia man charged after accident

MORGANTOWN — The Morgantown Police Department has filed criminal charges against a Virginia man who was involved in a vehicle accident on Friday night.

Paul Joseph Young III, 37, of Bealeton, Virginia, is charged with DUI with injuries.

Officers responded to a head-on vehicle collision on Grafton Road about 7 p.m., Friday, according to a criminal complaint.

One driver, Zachary Savage, was trapped in his vehicle and was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital after he was removed. A WVU Medicine spokesperson said Savage was in fair condition on Tuesday afternoon.

The second driver, Young, was also taken to the hospital after emergency medical personnel gave him two doses of Naloxone, the complaint states.

Four Naloxone kits, needles and suspected drug paraphernalia were found in Young’s car, the complaint said.

Both vehicles were “extremely damaged” and towed from the scene, according to the complaint.

Young was arraigned before Magistrate Sandy Holepit in Monongalia County Magistrate Court on Sunday. He is being held in North Central Regional Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.
