MORGANTOWN — Imani “Trump” Cody, 21, of Detroit was arrested at 5 p.m. Jan. 16 by the U.S. Marshals Service in Detroit. Cody was wanted by the Morgantown Police Department and the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office for two separate shooting incidents that happened in Monongalia County. Cody is charged in separate counts for attempted murder and wanton endangerment.
Morgantown detectives allege Cody shot another man Dec. 12 at a home on Brockway Avenue. Following the shooting, the injured man was treated at an area hospital and was reported to be in stable condition. Detectives from Monongalia County Sheriff’s also believe Cody to be the suspect in a Dec. 9 shooting at the Marjorie Gardens Apartment complex. No injuries were reported from that incident.
The arrest in Michigan took place as Cody attempted to enter a vehicle. He attempted to flee from the vehicle when officers approached, but was subdued before he could flee. Cody continued to resist arrest as Deputy Marshals handcuffed him on the ground.
Cody will appear in a Wayne County Court for extradition proceedings before returning to Monongalia County to face his charges.
