Elizabeth Lako, 92, of Morgantown, died Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at Mapleshire Nursing Home. She was born August 5, 1926, in Morgantown, a daughter of the late Pete and Mary (Kovach) Medvick.
She was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, and bingo. She loved her three cats, Precious, Gabby, and Baby and her grand puppy, Giblet.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Wright, of Perryopolis, Pa.; her wonderful sister, Theresa Glagola, of Morgantown; and many nieces and nephews, including special nephew, Robert Holepit, Jr. and special nieces, Patricia Sersen and Kim Bosley.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her spouse, Bailey Lako; sisters, Anne Holepit and her husband Bob and Mary Sersen; and brother-in-law, Mike Glagola.
The family would like to give a special thank you to her longtime doctors, Dr. Joseph Feghali and Dr. Michael O’Keefe, for their wonderful care throughout the years. They would also like to thank the staff of Mon Health Medical Center, Amedysis Hospice, and Mapleshire Nursing Home, for their wonderful care, especially the nursing staff and CNA’s for their love and compassion.
Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18. A Parastas service will be held at 7:30 p.m. to conclude the evening visitation. The Celebration of the Divine Liturgy will be held at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, 2115 Listravia Ave., Morgantown, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, with the Rev. Father Jerome Botsko as Celebrant. Interment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, 2115 Listravia Ave., Morgantown, WV.
