Darlene Carolyn (Pike) Darby, 73, of Terra Alta, passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital with loving family by her side.
Darlene was born Aug. 1, 1945, in Turner Douglass, the daughter of the late Howard and Isa Martin Pike.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She raised foster children for many years. She enjoyed camping, fishing, shopping, going to the beach and spending time with family and friends.
Darlene is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Larry Darby; two daughters and spouses, Deeamber and Chris Mercure, of Aurora, and Terri and Ryan Shaffer, of Terra Alta; two sisters, Sheliah Strawser and Flora “Sis” Watkins; six grandchildren, Lakyn and Raylan Mercure, Shawn Shaffer, Christopher and Lacricia Calvert and Casey Bennett; and six great-grandchildren, Peyton and Carter Shaffer, Riley and Colt Calvert, Mikey Fullmer and Lillian Virts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Orlando “Tony” Calvert; four brothers, Bob, Bud, Ronnie and Donnie; and two sisters, Becky and Wanda.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Hospice Care at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital who took wonderful care and made her final day peaceful.
